Derby County striker Jack Stretton has joined National League side Stockport County on loan.
The 19-year-old has linked up with the Hatters on an initial month-long agreement which will run until 7th April 2021.
Academy graduate Stretton’s form for the Under-23s early in the campaign, scoring eight times in Premier League 2 – Division 1, saw him step up to the first-team squad under manager Wayne Rooney towards the end of 2020.
Stretton made his senior bow off the bench in Derby’s 1-1 draw at home to Wycombe Wanderers in November and made two further appearances as a substitute against Coventry City and Swansea City in December.
A groin injury kept him out of action earlier in the year, but after recently returning to fitness he will now continue his development with Stockport.
Simon Rusk’s promotion-chasing side have eight matches to play over the course of Stretton’s initial month at Edgeley Park, offering him the opportunity to get significant match minutes under his belt.
The Scotland youth international forward will link up with fellow Rams Academy graduate Josh Barnes at Stockport, while former Derby goalkeeper Ben Hinchcliffe is also on their books.
