Derby County defender Max Lowe has put pen-to-paper on a new contract - as well as linking up Scottish Premiership side Aberdeen on loan.

Lowe, 21, has signed a new deal at Pride Park Stadium which will run until the summer of 2021.

The Academy graduate, who has been on Derby’s books since the age of ten, has joined Aberdeen on a loan deal until January 2019 as he looks get regular first-team match experience under his belt.

The left-back, who has made three appearances in all competitions for Derby this season off the back of an impressive pre-season campaign, could make his debut in Aberdeen’s home fixture against Kilmarnock on Saturday.

Lowe, who has been capped by England at youth international level, made his first-team breakthrough during the 2016/17 campaign and appeared 12 times over the course of the season.

His first-team bow came in the EFL Cup against Carlisle United in August 2016, before he made his league debut the following month in a 2-0 victory away to Cardiff City.

Lowe spent the second half of last season on loan at Sky Bet League One side Shrewsbury Town and made 16 appearances in total as they narrowly missed out on promotion to the Championship.

He returned to Pride Park in the summer and impressed new manager Frank Lampard during pre-season, resulting in him starting the Rams’ opening two league fixtures of the campaign - and the loan switch north of the border is viewed as another key part of his development.

Derby County would like to wish Max all the best for his loan spell with Aberdeen.
